This project focuses on Japanese Onsens and Sentos and the future of bathrooms in collaboration with ROCA. My concept of the future looks into bringing these eastern values into today’s western countries looking at the future in a more traditional way. My design is aimed at accessible for all so that regardless of your abilities, you will be able to access this public bathhouse as well as having treatments available for all kinds of problems to do with ageing. The materials used were stone, wood, water and Japanese traditional materials such as shoji, using traditional ways of making them. As this ‘bathroom’ approach is public, my solution of bringing eastern values to the UK, hopefully will give a cosy, comfortable and warm environment opposed to current venues such as swimming baths.
